Surgery!

So the doctors and Sandy & I have decided that diagnostic laparotomy is the only way forward. There is about a 1/100 chance of miscarriage with abdominal surgery in the first trimester.
Despite this scary risk, we obviously need to find and fix the cause of poor Sandy's 9/10 pain. She is no sook, and I think her 9/10 is my 15/10 pain.

Here Sandy is quite cheery, with PCA in-situ, she quite literally has morphine on tap! With her sense of humor in overdrive, she is a little drowsy. It's 10:00pm, Sunday night. Post-surg we had the information that she was suffering the ischemic pain of an ovarian torsion!
With these views laparoscopically...
First the nice normal left ovary..

And then this!

A huge and half necrotic right ovary. Dr Victor immediately converted to open laparotomy (pfannensteil incision), to unwind the torsion, remove the necrotic tissue and fix the ovary to reduce the risk of future torsion.
Sandy started her recovery really well.
